Encourage entrepreneurship in biotechnology and stimulate the cluster organization

The Cluster is kept alive through the Lyon Life Science Network. This is a real community of entrepreneurs in the biotechnology field that simplifies exchange, and contributes to creating business partnerships, and to pooling resources.

Thematic Lyon Life Science Network meetings, such as Bioéthique in April 2002 and Bioinformatique in June 2002, brought together Biotech entrepreneurs from the Lyon region and their partners. This concept has been extended to more frequent meetings, with the launch of BioTuesday.

Greater Lyon is fully involved in the creation and support of Biotechnology companies:

Since the results of this research must benefit the companies, Lyon makes available all the skills and tools necessary to help the transfer, innovation and creation of start-ups, via its neighborhood services networks:

Financial engineering network: ANVAR, BioAm seed capital for bio-companies, risk capital, business angels.
Management training, assistance, advice, services, consultancy firms (Big Five), legal firms, intellectual and industrial property experts.
Pre-creation and creation assistance, with ten or so projects currently incubated with CREALYS. The trend is to group together projects, and to consolidate efforts and resources, in view of a difficult economic climate in terms of risk capital. Take the example of ANTAGENE (March 2002) and TRANSAT (currently being created).
Assistance for start-up and development projects - Follow-up for international sitings.
