Summary

Created in Lyon in 1983 by Jean-Michel AULAS, CEGID (a specialist in the publication of management software packages aimed at professional accountants and middle market companies), celebrated its 20th anniversary by moving to Vaise (Lyon's 9th district), in a 14,000m² building designed by the architects Aymeric ZUBLENA and Michell MACARY (the names behind the Stade de France, the Richelieu wing of the Louvre Museum, and the Istanbul Olympic Stadium). The company's new head office opened in December 2003, in the presence of Mr. Gérard COLLOMB, Senator-Mayor of Lyon.

Designed as a place of work for 700 of CEGID's 1,300 employees, the new premises opened in December 2003.

A reminder of Lyon's Industrie district in Vaise, the former "halle de la navigation" (navigation covered market) on the right bank of the Saône is the main feature around which the new CEGID head office is laid out.

"It was important to retain this remnant of the waterway history and activity, which was so prominent here in the past. This 19th century building with its wooden framework was used as a dry dock for the barges which traded up and down the river", Aymeric ZUBLENA says.

80m long and 20m wide, this hall has today been fully restored. On either side, two main glass buildings have been built: a rectangular one to the South, an a "U"-shaped one to the North. "Their glass structure creates a "shimmering" effect on both sides of the hall," the architect indicates.

You access the company premises via an entrance on Quai Sedallian, leading onto the various floors.

New buildings, limited to 2 stories by the ZAC's (urban development zone) planning regulations, were built onto the restored section. "Inside, the work areas are highly flexible, and can be laid out as open plan offices or partitioned off as separate rooms, according to users' needs", Aymeric ZUBLENA explains.

To further improve the quality of life on the premises, the architects added a pond and two interior gardens.

This setting, which covers almost 15,000m² in total, also includes 400 parking spaces.
