Summary

Improving efficiency, adapting the urban community's policies and services to differing requirements and areas, increasing reactivity and, therefore, shortening deadlines (in terms of decision-making, implementation and involvement) - all of these needs and concerns mean that a uniform, centralized service is no longer satisfactory.

Our local development policy

The foundations of the approach

Greater Lyon established a new policy to stimulate the local economy, perfectly in line with the following actions:

The term-of-office plan: "local economic development must be linked to an improvement of neighborhood services, in order to increase the ability to understand companies' needs and thus provide them with solutions"
Greater Lyon, a Business Spirit: "stimulate the local economy and manage business areas"
The participation charter: "everyone who lives and works in our conurbation is a co-producer, and plays a role in our environment... and can become actively involved in the City's future"

Our goals

This policy of applying economic initiatives on a local level throughout the conurbation allows for:

Closer links between local authorities and local economic players (companies, professional organizations): "combine a global project with a local policy"
Better consideration of companies' needs: "support for SMEs and SMIs, and attentiveness towards traditional sectors: mechanical, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile industries."
More active participation of the local areas in economic development policies initiated by Greater Lyon: "improve the local governance system between all partners concerned by strategic options"
